Lakewatch needs your support

Florida Lakewatch, like many public programs is facing substantial budget reductions. Without assistance, they will be forced to reduce the amount of work they can perform. This means lakes may get dropped. Lakewatch trains our Lake sampling volunteers and processes the samples for our Pondwatch volunteers. This volunteer-based program allows us to extend our reach into water bodies that we couldn't possibly pay enough staff to sample. Lakewatch recently sent out a letter asking if any volunteers would consider self-supporting their lakes…basically that means donating money to Lakewatch that would allow them to cover another lake. In Hillsborough County, we contract Lakewatch to have a presence here, so our lakes are not in danger of being cut.
