Public meeting Feb. 28th on Thonotosassa water project

Public Meeting To Discuss Water Pipeline Construction At Tom Folsom, Joe Ebert Roads< br />
The Hillsborough County Public Utilities Department has scheduled a public meeting on Thursday, Feb. 28 to discuss a project that will improve water quality for residents in the area of Tom Folsom and Joe Ebert roads in the Thonotosassa area.< br />
The $350,000 project will include the construction of approximately 2,600 feet of new, 8-inch water pipeline along Tom Folsom Road, from just north of Harney Flats Lane, south to Joe Ebert Road. A metered water release valve will be removed and additional fire hydrants installed. Construction is expected to begin in March and be completed within 90 days.< br />
The work is part of the Countywide Potable Water Main/Distribution Lines Renewal and Replacement Project, a long-term program to improve water quality by connecting certain lines which now dead end. Water in these lines can stagnate, causing poor odor and taste. Utility crews must regularly flush the dead-end lines, using large amounts of water and labor. A looped system also provides more reliable service.< br />
The renewal and replacement program is being funded through the Water Enterprise’s Capital Improvement Program.< br />
New pipeline segments also will provide an opportunity for those residents who are currently served by drinking water wells to connect to the County’s utility system if they choose.< br />
County staff will be at the meeting on Feb. 28 to talk about the project, and to answer any questions residents may have.< br />
DATE: Thursday, Feb. 28< br /> TIME: 6:30 p.m.< br /> PLACE: Thonotosassa Park, 10132 Skewlee Road< br /> All meeting facilities are accessible in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Any additional necessary accommodations will be provided with a 48-hour notice.< br />
